The tightening insurance market for Powersports dealers continues to create significant challenges at renewal. Over the last several years, the number of available carriers has shrunk — particularly impacting smaller dealerships, operations with watercraft exposure, and those selling ATVs and side-by-sides.
Adding to the pressure, Sentry Insurance has announced it will begin non-renewing Harley-Davidson dealerships effective July 1, 2025. This move further reduces market options for dealers and places additional strain on renewal timelines.
These market shifts can result in increased premiums, reduced coverage options and last-minute scrambling at renewal. That’s why it is more critical than ever for dealers to work closely with a broker who not only understands the insurance landscape, but also knows the unique risks and operational nuances of the dealership business.
Strategic communication and proactive planning throughout the year — not just at renewal — can make the difference between rushed coverage and a tailored, long-term solution.
